IEF Dammam conducted seminar on Performance & Productivity Management

Dammam chapter of the Indian Engineers Forum (IEF) conducted a technical seminar on Performance & Productivity Management using Balanced Score card by Pradeep Sharma, a well-known authority on the subject at Dammam Sheraton Hotel on the 19th of May, 2011. Around 125 Engineers and technocrats attended the seminar. The seminar started off with recitation by Master Nabeel Shuja Sheriff.

The President & Founder Member of the IEF Engr Shuja Sheriff spoke eloquently and envisaged IEFs & their engineers increasing role 'Towards Building A Better Tomorrow.'

He shared that the platform launched by visionaries in Riyadh and expanded their vision in Jeddah and Dammam under the patronage of Indian Ambassador since 1998.

Looking through binoculars the forum president sees bight future and plans to have Regular seminars, Certification courses like Six Sigma, PMP training courses, PDS-Professional Development Series where any member engineer can contribute to the platform in his expertise field and Personality Development. Further he added that IEF is not restricted to professional growth alone. It is also packed with entertainment, social picnics, sports and dinners along the way in which the Engineers' families participate enthusiastically.

Another aspect in these times of synergy, as no one achieves alone, Engr Shuja stressed the necessity for fellow the engineers at IEF to help all the community to communicate, update each other with latest developments in engineering and give each other an opportunity to create a personal profile and interact with peers.

The chief guest Eng. Adel Shaheen Al Dosary the Chairman, Department of City and Regional Planning, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, in his address emphasized the achievements of Indian engineers and architects in building such magnificent buildings like the Taj Mahal whose beauty & symmetry is unsurpassed till date and it's been around for nearly 400 years!! He extolled the Indian engineers to keep continuing the good work they have been doing over the centuries. and he emphasized that when it comes to solid knowledge, attitude and working untiringly without any politics, the Indian engineer is the first choice amongst Saudi employers and will continue to be so in the future too.

Engr Fahad Abdullah Al Hamad, the Guest of Honor, who represented the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) emphasized that in future all the engineers should register with Saudi Council of Engineers to renew their Iqamas. He also emphasized the need for the IEF to work in tandem with the SCE under its umbrella and offered to host future events within SCE. Engr. Kamal encouraged to promote the Industrial Business relation and stressed for closer cooperation between the various engineering forums within the GCC countries.

Pradeep Sharma in his Key Note address highlighted the benefits of Balanced Scorecard by concluding the Balanced Scorecard system is not a measurement system. It is strategic management system, of which strategic measurement is one component and which, crucially plays a supporting role to strategic objectives. So measures exist purely to monitor progress toward the implementation of strategy, as described through a Strategy Map.

Highlighting needs of repeated Communication within organization to overcome resistance to change he said 'strategic awareness is about education and communication. It is about making employees fully cognizant about why the scorecard is being deployed, how it functions, and keeping employees up to date on progress towards strategic objectives. Education and communication is also about inculcating in the employees-base an understanding of how his or her own day-to-day actions impact scorecard results.'

The Chairman and Founder Member of IEF Saudi Arabia, Eng. Amir Khan summed up the evening by encouraging all Engineers to play active roles and enhance professionally by participating IEF activities in Dammam Chapter, He also presented 'IEF Spectrum 2011', the Engineers Magazine recently published by IEF as a Souvenir To Dr. Adel Shaheen and asked for increased valuable collaboration with Saudi Council of Engineers and IEF Dammam Chapter.

He shared his vision about how IEF, which as a national level forum of engineers of Indian origin, will provide a platform for networking, career advancement, community service, and technology exchange.

Among prominent guests are IEF Advisory board member Mirza Zaheer Baig, Scientist KFUPM, IEF Riyadh Chapter President Eng. Owais Ahmed, Mansoor Khan General Manager Radian Oil and Gas Services, Dr. H.M. Siddiqui Chief Engineer (Mechanical) Al Khodari Sons Co. and Ramy Assad Yagmour President Site Saudia, the Consultants For business and Development.

Mr Hatem Turki, the Marketing manager of Zamil Steel briefed the role played by Zamil in the development all over the world and informed that Zamil steel was one of the first Saudi company to go to India and set up a venture mainly because of the high quality of engineers available as well as the stability of the country.

Vice President, Eng. M Z Nadeem conducted the event in a smooth manner and the Vice President, Eng Ather Ahmed presented Bouquets & Mementos to the sponsors & guests of honor. Vote of thanks was proposed by Eng. Feroze Sulaiman. It was followed by a mouth savoring dinner at Sheraton Poolside.
