Saturday, 17th January 2004

Zamil Steel Vietnam (ZSV), the Asian operation of Saudi Arabia's Zamil Steel Industries (ZSI), has been accredited by the Singapore Structural Steel Society (SSSS), the entity which promotes the correct use of structural steel to benefit of the community and the region.

SSSS's accreditation scheme is committed to upgrading the standards of the steel construction industry and grades steel fabricators based on track record, financial status, technical capability and fabrication plant standards. Furthermore, it encourages self-regulation and is fully supported by Singapore's Building and Construction Authority.

"We are delighted to have achieved accreditation from this well-respected society, as it provides us with a number of key benefits," said George Kobrossy, General Director, ZSV. These include recognition that our standards are among the best in the industry as well as further endorsement of our credentials through a listing on the SSSS Accreditation Register - to prospective developers, consultants and contractors throughout South East Asia.

ZSV's has been awarded the S1 category of accreditation, which sets criteria of having net tangible assets of S$3 million, a minimum of one in-house professional engineer and not less than three supervisory staff. It also stipulates other requirements including the ability to build a large portal bridge or trusswork with a span of more than 30 meters.
